"Departing from China with Pets" FREE Online information session March 30, 2024 (11:00AM-12:30PM) and online information sessions throughout 2024!

“Recently I attended an online seminar about pets departing China, hosted by a pet relocation expert from ICVS. This was an entirely free information service, which provided thorough, and comprehensive details on the steps pet owners need to take before leaving China. I was impressed by how much information was given, to enable me to properly plan in advance.  I would recommend that everyone who is leaving China with animals should participate in this seminar, as there are many steps that need to be taken carefully and with thorough planning required. I left the workshop with notes and an action plan, and a timescale established. Prior to the workshop, I was completely clueless.”

LATEST UPDATE FOR PETS TRANSITING THROUGH EU COUNTRIES:

Beginning January 1, 2022, any pets transiting through an EU country, even if traveling onwards to a non-EU country, must fully meet EU pet import requirements. This includes microchipping, rabies vaccination, rabies antibody titre testing and waiting at least 90-days after the blood draw date of the titre test before the pet may apply for exit permit with PRC Customs Bureau. Please plan ahead and begin departure preparation at least 6-8 months before the departure date.

LATEST UPDATE FOR DOGS ENTERING THE USA:

The USA CDC introduced a "Temporary Suspension of Dogs Entering the United States from High-Risk Rabies Countries” that took effect on July 14, 2021.  China is classified as a high-risk rabies country

For dogs traveling to the USA, a dog import permit is now mandatory and dogs must meet the new USA CDC pet import requirements, including microchipping, legally certified rabies vaccination, rabies antibody titre testing and a 45-day post blood draw date waiting period after the titre test. Dog owners must apply to the USA CDC for the import permit at least 30-business days (six-weeks) before the import date. Dog import permits will be granted by the USA CDC on a case-by-case basis.

These regulations are new and ICVS has been in contact with the USA CDC.  We will be reviewing the new regulations and outlining the process for dog owners to apply for dog import permits to the USA at the online information session on March 30, 2024.

ICVS pet relocation experts will share step-by-step instructions on the newest 2024 exit process, winter and summer blackout periods on pet travel, microchipping, vaccinations, rabies antibody titre testing, and other requirements to help you prepare for a smooth departure from China and an easy entry to your next destination country, during and AFTER the pandemic.

ICVS pet relocation experts will help you make a plan for departure even if you may be considering multiple potential countries and do not have a clear departure date.

ICVS has helped pets from China depart for more than 180 destination countries. We have been working with the PRC Entry-Exit Quarantine and Inspection Bureau since 1996 and have cumulative and comprehensive knowledge of the regulations that we share with pet owners. The ICVS official Animal Health and Immunity Certificates (e.g., vaccination red books) are the gold standard in China and help pet owners ensure a smooth experience at the time of the mandatory exit health examination at the Quarantine Bureau.

ICVS vaccination red books are unique and are not issued in conjunction with any other pet hospitals in China. Please ensure your vaccination red book is issued directly by ICVS and carries all legally required stamps (e.g., chops) for export.

ICVS clients receive unlimited, complimentary pet relocation, import and export counseling from our pet relocation experts. Our mission is to help pet owners keep the whole family and pets together when it is time to depart!

Please note that the Beijing Quarantine Bureau is now advising all departing pet owners to take their pets for the mandatory exit health examination at 7-10 days before the departure date.

The Beijing Quarantine Bureau now requires that all pets undergoing the mandatory exit health examination in Beijing must provide an official vaccination certificate (e.g., vaccination red book) issued by an officially designated animal rabies vaccination hospital in Beijing. ICVS can issue the official Beijing vaccination certificates for all pets allowing them to undergo the exit health examination at the Beijing Quarantine Bureau.

PRC Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine Bureau Latest Update:

Any dog that tests positive for heartworm will not be granted an exit permit to leave China. This requirement will now be strictly enforced at the time of the exit health examination at the Quarantine Bureau's officially designated animal hospital (conducted 7-10 days before departure). Please ensure your dogs are heartworm tested annually and are on year-round heartworm preventives. Heartworm is treatable but the safest treatment protocol may take six-months or more. For more information about heartworm testing and preventatives to ensure your dogs are heartworm free, please visit the ICVS web site: www.ICVSASIA.com

ICVS offers its express and affordable rabies antibody titre testing service for departing pets. The rabies antibody titre test for EU entry is good for the life of the pet as long as the pet is rabies vaccinated annually before the last vaccination's expiration date. Completing the rabies antibody titre test as soon as you know you may be relocating to the EU and other destination countries/territories will help prevent delays should you need to leave China on short notice or earlier than planned.
